Walmart Opening Days Away

The 76th Street Walmart is almost ready to open. Whether you're thrilled or dismayed, it's almost here.

The new Greendale Walmart is days away from welcoming its first customers.

Wednesday will be the first day of shopping at the new store, and customers will find what the store manager described as a "smaller, supercenter format."

At 90,000 square feet, it comes inbetween the 154,000-square-foot Greenfield Supercenter on Highway 100 and the 40,000-square-foot West Allis Neighborhood Market, said store manager Jason Steffen.

The Walmart will carry groceries—though not as many as Greendale residents and officials may have been expecting. Patch asked readers to weigh in on where they plan to shop for groceries: Walmart, Pick n Save or Sendik's.

The traditional grocery-only stores were more popular choices, but there are some who plan to shop there and who are glad the store is opening up in the village.

What do you think?

Did anyone actually believe that Walmart would act differently in Greendale?

I'll never step foot in that buy China cheap crap store! Just remember by shopping there you support outsourcing of American jobs. Sam Walton is rolling over in his grave. When he ran the company buy American was prominently displayed.

Stop whining about Walmart it does provide many badly needed part time jobs as we muddle through four more years of high unemployment. I see that just recently Walmart announced that they would hire 100 thousand veterans as they return from their assignments around the world giving them part time employment while they try to secure full time positions. Suck it up and deal with it. Enough of this ankle biting BS. Grow Up...

I'm sure they did that out of the goodness of their hearts and not as a PR move and to easily find another base of part-time employees who get no benefits.
