Want to ask a Village Board or School Board candidate a question before the April 2 election? You’ll get your chance.
The Greendale Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County will again conduct their annual candidate forums late in March in attempt to educate voters on the upcoming local Greendale elections.
The forum for Village Board candidates is 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 21. Three candidates – Ronald Barbian, Jason Cyborowski and Carl Genz – are vying for two seats.
The School Board candidate forum is 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 27. Roger Dalkin, Melanie Kuzmanovic, Victoria McCormick, Katie Mevis, Thomas Slota and Kathleen Wied-Vincent are competing for three seats.
Both forums will be held in the Greendale High School multipurpose room.
All candidates have been invited to participate.
The forums follow an open format to allow the candidates to answer questions posed by the audience and non-biased questions through a moderator. Each question will be directed to all candidates. All moderation, timing and sorting of questions will be done by the League of Women Voters.
Contact Greendale Village Manager Todd Michaels at (414) 423-2100 for additional information.

Greendalers, If you care about the direction of the Greendale Public Schools, you must attend the forum. Check out the challengers. It is time to make a change in the leadership and oversight of the public schools. To support Dr. Tharp and give him the kind of board he needs to make a difference.

Greendale has a hot school board race which should capture our attention. Contested chairs for the board makes each candidate declare their intentions and beliefs.
Two of the board members have been on the school board for over 12 years. Dr. Slota has been on for over 20 years.

The Greendale Patch was going to develop an online forum. I for one hope you will create a weekly set of questions for each Village Board and School Board candidate to answer so voters can take their measure.
Here is a question: Where do you stand on providing post retirement plans for employees of the Village of Greendale and the Greendale Public Schools?

I would like some answers at least from the current school board members on if they support the post retirement plans for employees. Thoughts Board Member: McCormick, Slota and Kuzmonvich?
Especially since the budget is going to be much harder to than the CFO predicted just a few short weeks ago. Just like they were for the increase in school fees and then reversed out
Thoughts?

How are Greendale Patch readers finding out the opinions of these candidates? 1 forum? No statements from the candidates. I can see the facebook pages but they don't say much either. Not knowing means not being informed voters.

I for one think it is time for the Greendale School District to end the OPEB post retirement benefit plan. Why are we paying a second retirement for teachers and administrators. The Greendale Tax Group is concerned and will be getting people out to vote.

It is a safe assumption that the three board members that are up for election support the OPEB post retirement benefit plan. They approve them every year for teachers and administrators. I checked the minutes from last year and Slota and McCormick voted yes every time. Can't say the same for Kozmonvich.
Don't look for the administration to propose any changes to this golden parachute.

Which candidates would completely reject these racist, "white privilege", radical left wing philosophies that this documentary points out are infiltrating our school system?
