The national contest is set to award $100K to the school district of the winning entrant. Greendale's entry is the Salzer home, on Fielding Lane, which also won the Village of Greendale's holiday lighting contest.
Due to a school board policy that prohibits the school district from directly participating in promotional contests, administrators determined it would be best to have any possible prize money go to local school-related booster clubs.
The GPABC and HR Club have been working to get the contest information out to their members and the rest of the community.
There are 24 entries throughout the country who are finalists in the contest. People can vote once a day at http://deckthehouse.patch.com/entry/227813 The contest ends January 8th and the winner will be determined by the highest total number of votes.
