Student Arrested for GHS Threat

Greendale Police have arrested a student for a threat that was written in a boys bathroom.

 

Police have arrested the student believed responsible for writing a threat written in a boys bathroom saying something would happen on the day of the Homecoming dance at Greendale High School.

The Greendale Police Department and the Greendale School District worked together in the investigation.

The message was discovered in a boys restroom at Greendale High School on Thursday. As soon as the threat was reported, school administrators contacted the Greendale Police Department and began an investigation.

The student will face the school district's usual and customary discipline process up to and including expulsion, according to a release from the district. The student will not be allowed to return to Greendale High School, until the situation is resolved.

“It is important to emphasize that no students at Greendale High School were in any imminent danger,” said Superintendent John Tharp. “I want to thank everyone, including the Greendale High School staff and the Greendale Police Department, who immediately took action and worked together to ensure the safety of our students.”

As precautionary measure the school district changed the dance location to the middle school on Saturday.
