Store Employee Charged With Stealing Customer Credit Card
Suspect takes the victim's card and buys gift cards from another Southridge store.
A 43-year-old employee of a store in Southridge Mall is facing charges after she allegedly stole a customer’s credit card while it was in a fitting room, then using it to buy gift cards at another store.
Deborah Kay Woody, of Milwaukee, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of credit card fraud. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On March 24, the victim was modeling clothes at Deb and left her purse in a locked dressing room. She later discovered someone had taken her credit card out of the purse and Woody was one of the few employees with keys to the room.
An employee at Wet Seal then told officers Woody came to that store and bought two $150 gift cards with the stolen card.
Woody will make her initial appearance in court Sept. 11.
