State Democrats Heading to Convention Say Choice in November is Stark
The Wisconsin delegation is looking forward to nominating the nation's first African American president for a second term. They say the choice between another four years with Barack Obama and the Romney/Ryan ticket will be a stark one for voters this fall
When the Democratic National Convention starts Tuesday in Charlotte, NC, Democrats will have their chance to tell their story to the country and explain why they think President Barack Obama is still the best choice come November.
The convention opens only five days after the Republican National Convention closed in Tampa, FL, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leading the Republican ticket and Wisconsin U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. With Ryan on the ballot for two offices — he's also running to retain his seat to represent the 1st Congressional District — and Gov. Scott Walker a featured speaker, the Republican convention perhaps should have been held at Lambeau Field.
Despite not having a Cheesehead on the ticket, the Badger State will be well-represented in Charlotte by a solid group of delegates and a scheduled speech Thursday by U.S. Rep. and Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin.
A stark choice of two paths
With Ryan on the Republican ticket, there is an even sharper definition of the differences between the candidates, said Mike Tate, chair of the state Democratic Party.
"There is a stark choice facing Americans," said Tate. "Are we going to choose a path where we invest in the middle class and education, or do we want to continue lowering taxes for the very wealthiest citizens and raising taxes on the middle class?"
This will be Tate's fourth convention, and he said the difference between 2012 and 2008 is that the stakes are higher now.
"The Romney/Ryan ticket is the wrong path for the country, and this convention is a great way to talk about the differences in the president's ideas and where to take the country," Tate added.
Sachin Chheda, chair of the Milwaukee County Democrats, has been an active Democrat for years, but is headed to his first convention this year.
He said he is enthusiastic, especially after seeing Paul Ryan “deliver lie after lie” and watching Clint Eastwood’s “strange artistic monologue.”
“We’re very excited,” he said. “This week was more energizing because we saw what we’re up against and what they’re willing to do. We have a positive story to tell, and we’re going to talk about our record on jobs, health care and civil rights. We think we’re going to have a huge bump coming out of the convention.”
Making history again
Members of the Wisconsin delegation are also excited about making history again by nominating Obama for a second term.
Meg Andrietsch, secretary of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, said 2008 was going to be historic no matter what. They were either going to nominate the female candidate for president — Hillary Clinton — or the first person of color.
"What we did four years ago, nominating a person of color, was historic," said Andrietsch. "And now we get to make history again by nominating the first African American president for a second term."
Tate agreed.
"Nominating the first African American president was exciting," he said. "And now we get to nominate that president for a second term and give people a chance to hear the nominees tell their story to the country."
First-time experience
Kenosha businessman Rob Zerban is attending as both a delegate and congressional candidate running again Ryan in the 1st District. This is his first convention, and he's not sure what to expect, other than he will be busy.
"My schedule will be full of caucuses and meetings," he said. "I'm most looking forward to being on the convention floor and nominating Barack Obama to remain the president of the United States."
Gerard Maciejewski, a Glendale resident who has worked as a field construction boilermaker for 33 years, said he has been to Washington, D.C., on behalf of his local union, but he has never been to a national convention before.
He said he’s looking forward to the experience.
“From my experiences in Washington, the idea of meeting President Obama or President Clinton would be as exciting as meeting someone like Brett Favre,” he said.
He said the issues he cares most about are access to health care, a strong education system and moving the country forward in a bipartisan manner.
“I’m going with an open heart and open mind, and to do what I think is best for future of my children and grandchildren,” he said. “I’d like to see the future of the United States pushing forward in a positive direction.”
Are conventions still relevant?
A recent commentary by Scott Rasmussen of Rasmussen Reports called into question whether or not conventions are necessary since the primaries decide the nominees weeks ahead of time. He cites the lack of interest in the conventions among the general public and the enormous price tag as two additional reasons for question their existance.
"The reason for the declining interest is simple. Conventions used to matter. They actually decided something," he writes. "Now primaries select the major party nominees. The conventions are just a relic to confirm what has already been decided."
Andrietsch thinks conventions still have their place on the political scene.
"Sure, we could do this electronically, but there is still something to be said about the personal connections," Andrietsch said. "It helps to get together because there's energy, and the media coverage allows citizens to be part of it, so it's more inclusive rather than exclusive."
Tate agreed, saying Americans are more polarized than at any time he can remember so the conventions give people a chance to hear the stories of and from the candidates.
"I don't know if this election features the greatest difference between two candidates, but certainly it's the most polarized the country’s been that I can remember,” he said. “At no time in our history has an incumbent president been treated with such little respect and high disdain. It’s been a tough four years, and we’ve been through a lot so people are engaged more than ever before.”
Former Waukesha mayor and Waukesha County Board Supervisor Larry Nelson also thinks conventions have their place, especially with undecided voters. He's no stranger to Democratic conventions; this is his fifth one since 1984.
Nelson said he thinks the race will be hotly contested nationwide and in Wisconsin, and the conventions and debates are key in swaying undecided and independent voters.
After watching the Republican convention on television this week, Nelson said he thinks Democrats have the advantage of addressing claims made by Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney and other top Republicans.
“I’m looking forward to seeing some of the charges that don’t fit the facts rebutted at the Democratic convention,” he said. “I think there will be quite a contrast on some of the issues discussed at the Republican convention.”

$1,266 is what Obama costs WOMEN per year.
Gas prices have gone up and is the same as a TAX
Now 3.95
Then 1.84
Increase 2.11
Average miles per year 15,000
Average miles per gallon 25
Gas used per year 600
600 times 2.11 equals $1,266
This is a real war against women by Obamas Energy Policies.

Oil is a commodity. That's why the price fluctuates so much. We had oil price increases under George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Third World countries are using more fossil fuels, corn, beef, etc. That affects availability/cost. Obama's opened up more domestic drilling than Bush.
If we're going to discuss the issues and differences between the candidates, can't we stick to what's actually going on instead of making stuff up? Keeping it real would be a lot more helpful.

Keith - You are either a fool, or completely dishonest. Obama was elected and had both a democratic majority in congress and in the senate for 2 full years. He had NO obstruction whatsoever. He did exactly what he wanted to do with the stimulus and other things in an attempt to get the economy back on track and he failed miserably. So please stop your whining and lies. Our current president is in over his head. Furthermore, he still doesn't have a budget, ideas or plan to get this economy turned around.
Romney/Ryan will provide the leadership that this country has been sorely lacking the last 3 1/2 years.
I know you are fully aware that the Democrats controlled the Presidency, House and Senate for a full two years when he was elected? So which is it, are you foolish or dishonest?

the 'sha guy, try about 6 months, not 2 years. In Washington that's barely enough time to do anything.
Timeline:
April 2009: Arlen Spector switches from Republican to Democrat (59 Dem senators)
July 2009: Al Franken finally sworn in (making 1st Dem supermajority since 1958)
August 2009: Sen. Ted Kennedy passes away, Paul Kirk temp appt. Sept. 2009
February 2010: Scott Brown (R-MA) signed in. End of Supermajority
So 8 months total months, 6 in which Congress was in session.
So let's please put the 2-year Supermajority lie to bed once and for all. This is a matter of record.

Yes Dan, the US is no longer hemorraging jobs at the rate of 750,000 every month as it was when Bush the Lesser left office. In July 2012, 163,000 new jobs came on line for a net turnaround of 913,000 jobs per month. Can you do the math on that one?
The Dow was at 7,949 when President Obama took office, it closed on 8/31 at 13,091 for a change of + 65%. How's your math on that one? Just as a point of reference, the Dow decreased by - 1% in Bush's first term and -24% in his second term.
The overall tax rates are at the lowest point in 60 years.
Oh, and those horrible Debt figures that were never a problem until Obama took office? The Debt was approximately $! Trillion when Reagan took office; Regan, Bush I and Bush II then proceeded to add $8.6 Trillion to the Debt while trashing the economy during the time of Bush the Lesser. They also charged two invasions and Medicare Part D. Any problems with these numbers?:
The Debt limit was raised 8 times during the Bush II Administration, with nary a peep from the "budget hawks" like Lyin' Ryan who voted for all of these increases.
So, perhaps you should stop listening to the Drug Addled Bloviater Limbaugh and turn off FAUX and do some research.

Bren,
Where did I mention super-majority? (never) You only need a super-majority if you are planning on not having ANY support from the other side. I said he had a majority for two years to get what he wanted passed, which is true. Past presidents who were effective leaders could get members of the other party to cross over and support their ideas with some compromise. Reagan passed his tax cuts with democrats controlling the house. Bush passed several economic items . Even when Jeffords switched to the Democrats, Bush still had support from Democrats on a number of his issues and got them passed. Your insinuation that one needs a super majority to lead shows your lack of knowledge on both the legislation issue and the history of the relationships between past presidents and the congresses they worked with.
The bottom line is that our current President is a failure on many fronts. The plans that he passed while he had full control for two years didn't work. Since that point he is either completely clueless on what will work, or he is a completely ineffective leader who is unable to work with others to get anything passed the will assist Americans and help the economy. His budget was voted down 100-0 in the senate and he hasn't had anything since. Need I say more.
You can sit here and foolishly defend him solely because of your party affiliation, or whatever other reason, but we need the real leadership.the Romney / Ryan will provide.

President Clinton added the whopping sum of $1,114,713,502,186.74, which is 13% of what Bush I, Bush II and Reagan added to the Debt in total. TEAPublicans; the Party of "Charge It", after all Cheney said, "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter".
BTW; you might want to get ready to celebrate 4th anniversary of the Crash of Lehman Bros. which started the Wall St. Collapse during the last year of Bush the Lesser's regime. It occurred on September 15, 2008. Is Lehman Bros. better off than it was 4 years ago? Oh wait, Lehman Bros. doesn't exist anymore.

When Clinton's first budget went into effect, the national debt was at $4.351T. When Clinton's last budget ended, the national debt was at $5.769T.
Thus Clinton added $1.418T over 8 years.
Reagan added $1.873T over 8 years.
Bush Sr. added $1.484T over 4 years.
Bush W. added $4.644T over 8 years.
Obama added $5.587T+ in 3.5 years.
By the time Obama's term ends, he will have single handedly added more in four years than both Bush's combined over 12 years.
So, what's your point?

Stimulus spending in excess of 1 trillion, 5 Trillion in new debt, green energy the retarding of oil and gas exploration. Higher energy prices. The problem is that he has a Socialist vision and it doesn't work. Obama is the grand failed experiment. Hope and Change is now Nope and Chains. Time to send them packing, it is our only hope.

I don't care if he's black, white, green, or purple...he's an ideologue that has surrounded himself with thugs and criminals (tax evasion is still a crime in the US). When he doesn't get his way by constitutional methods (i.e. running a bill through congress), he's proven time and again that he'll sidestep and initiate through fiat. Nice thing about executive orders, though, is that they can be undone buy the next sitting president.

Mitt laid out a 5 Point Plan to get the economy growing and put people back to work. Obama offers 42 straight months of unemployment over 8% and more Americans out of work than when he took office. "Hope and Change" have faded.
Paul Ryan said "we can do this" and Mitt Romney showed us how.

When Bush proposed the TARP program (an enormous bailout plan for financial institutions caught in the housing scheme perpetuated by Congress), one Senator Barack Obama supported the idea, but now, it's all Bush's fault? Instead of cutting back on spending to buy votes and repay political cronies, Obama opened up the spigots of the United States Treasury and tried to buy financial ability. Obama basically screwed private investors in both Chrysler and General Motors in order to turn over both entities to the unions. It cost thousands of jobs to do that, but remember, it was Bush's fault!

- I will work to retool the Janesville assembly plant and keep it open for a hundred more years.
- I will cut the cost of a typical family's health insurance premium by up to $2,500 a year.
- Half of all cars purchased by the federal government will be plug-in hybrids or all-electric by 2012.
- I will upgrade our infrastructure.

Obama was a constitutional law professor, or at the very least a self-purported expert of constitutional law - enough so to be lecturing classes at a prominent law school before he became President, correct?
So Obama either knew or should have know the limitations of the power of a President when he was making campaign promises, correct?
And Obama, by virtue of winning the election, was then in the position to deliver on the promises he made to the people, correct?
Based upon intent, as you suggest, Obama must have known that much of what he was promising on the campaign trail couldn't be effected solely by the office of the Presidency, thus the intent to deceive was clearly present in the way he so affirmatively and directly stated such promises, correct?
And as far as things that he does have direct and complete control over, like closing Gitmo and ending the wars on day 1, which he can do as commander in chief, I don't honestly see how you can't call those promises lies!

Unless you are a speculation trader or younger using the stock market as your sole investment is a sure way to be living off of food stamps. Dependency on government is the goal of the current administration. Who's really going to not vote for the hand that feed's them?
Expecting that the president can make you wealthy is the actual issue. There are always opportunities for those that are willing to take the risk. If you were not smart enough to play an active part in your 401K or anything that had to do with the stock market while the decline was occurring (near the end of Bush's term) then who's fault is that really?
People became too complacent or put their trust into administrators (be they mortgage bankers, financial advisers, etc) of their wealth that were not competent to do so. The end of Clinton and the beginning of Bush - pre-dot bomb caused a lot of the issues we have today.
Are you better off is more accurately measured by determining what is my level of freedom of movement within today's economic marketplace, i.e if I'm entering the workforce for the first time or want to better myself by switching jobs or careers, what are my opportunities? That's what has really happened - right now people are afraid to move or take a risk - whether they are big or small business owners or employees.
Low interest rates, stimulus, more welfare, and higher debt over the last 3 years have resulted in more fear and reliance on the government teat.

Hate to tell you people, but there will never be jobs like in the past. Unions pay a decent wage, not these companies that want to pay $10-15.00/hr. Friends who have had good jobs for 15-20 years got laid off; no companies they work for since pay a living-wage, keep laying off after 1-2 yrs. Computers and foreign companies with low wages do the work now; these are the facts.
Republicans don't want educated people, that is why all the cuts in schools and colleges keep happening. Dumb people are good to be ruled by the kings in charge.
Repubs also didn't okay Obama's infrastructure ideas. They rather have the bridges, schools, and buildings fall apart. Then they can go over to visit the city with the devastation and act sorry about it. Jobs are the last thing on their minds. Only idea for them is low taxes for rich and corporations. 2) If so, which union did they belong to?
3) What industry were these companies in?

"Earlier today, the House and Senate voted on the Highway and Student Loan Bill (H.R.4348). The legislation reauthorized various surface transportation programs through fiscal year 2014 at a cost of $120 billion and extends the 3.4% rate on Stafford loans for one year. The Highway bill bankrupts the Highway Trust Fund by 2015, and the student loan bill costs $5.9 billion in order to help a small percentage of incoming college students pay just $7 less a month in student loans four years from now."
The "Repubs" voted (wrongly) for "Obama's infrastructure ideas".

For all of you "style over substance" (look it up) responders I'm not in favor of a huge amount of deregulation either. The American Dream is just that - a goal that should be striven for but not handed out on a golden platter. To do that there has to be some regulation in place to allow for a competitive marketplace - this does not equal the government buying failing businesses. I am totally opposed to any government bailout (I'm looking at you Falls Board - an issue that's died out all too quickly).
Again that doesn't mean that I'm against SMB loans or minority owned businesses - it just means that if you're willing to risk it - you should be rewarded if you succeed and punished if you fail, i.e. you lose your business.

Also, the republican commercial states gasoline is double since Obama took office. Oh really, in the spring of 2008 (Bush in charge), gas was $4.25/gal. That was when I got rid of my big gas guzzler and went to my first foreign small car (Honda) because of it's good reputation with cars lasting long and good gas mileage. Repubs just lie and they think all us Americans are going to believe them. I have lived this life too. I am not 18 or 20 and don't remember all the past actions of repubs.
They love wars, guns, and stating liberals are crazy, fanatics, radicals. We know who really are!!! The repubs wasted all the money our country had left over from Clinton's run. They are always talking about dems, when they are the ones ruining this country, killing our people in wars, they want to run the world. But their kids usually avoided the service. Most don't what a service person and their family go thru.
Bush did nothing for our country, except 2 wars, a state of being broke and jobless; people with no health insurance, supposedly making a little too much money for assistance. The repubs talk about not wanting abortion, but then they don't want to pay for the children after they are born either. They rather have the families starving, with toothaches, and no healthcare. That is their America.Make them poor and keep them that way. Then repubs complain about not wanting to give handouts to people, that is what happens with no education, no jobs,no food.

January 26, 2009 (kinda like when Obama took office) average gas price: Regular gasoline/gallon $1.84.
So if my math is correct $1.84 X 2 = $3.68
The average gas price today is $3.82, so it is 2.08 times higher.

@John Feia - indeed demand is down due to an increase in gas prices and the unemployment rate being so high - people without jobs tend not to drive as much.
This myopic line of responses is what I like to call getting down to the weeds - find a thread to latch onto, any miniscule point of contention - be it a quote on a website (always excellent sources of information (yes sarcasm intended), a fact posted by some form of printed media (also very biased no matter what side you're on) and drive it into the ground thereby burying the bigger picture.
Gas prices are not driven by one factor - this is why they are a commodity and are prone to speculation - scare the masses and you can get rich on that fear.
The amount of misinformation by both sides is pathetic. The battle for votes is really for those swayed by the sound bite, the bumper sticker and the ADD nation.
Making an informed decision is hard work and you will not find an answer on Fox, in any government website.
John Feia
7:10 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2012
I agree. It is an international market which is just one factor. My post was in response to the simple solution of expanding drilling permits proposed by Anti-Alinsky as the solution for the gas price dilemma. The thing is that when demand goes down, prices usually follow ( unless you are a supply sider). As far as quoting news websites, eia.gov which I cited is a government website. One bright spot though is that at the end of the month, provisions in the Dodd/Frank law to harness abuse of speculative markets will go into effect.

Hoffa has previously qualified Politifact as only being good to use for the links they provide to primary sources, and nothing else. Politifact's analysis and conclusions should be ignored by anyone with a half brain.
The links that Hoffa provided were merely to show the promises that Obama made, and the proof used by Politifact to determine them as being broken - nothing else. Hoffa encourages everyone to do their own homework, perform their own analysis, and come to their own conclusions.
As far as the broken Obama promises linked to by Hoffa, Hoffa's research, independent analysis, and conclusions concur with those reached by Politifact, in that those do indeed represent broken Obama promises.
Always do your own homework though. Never blindly trust the conclusions of a so-called fact-checker - especially in regards to politics!

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/31/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-said-barack-obama-began-his-presidency/
Even Politifact admits that this is a SUBJECTIVE standard, and not an objective one. Apologies -- or diplomatic language? Reasonable minds have varying opinions about this, all backed up with varying facts and logical analysis. So for Politifact to conclude a 'Pants on Fire' rating is wholly unfair. Frankly, this is also an issue that Hoffa could care less about!
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/07/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-barack-obamas-plan-abandons-tenet/
Politifact doesn't even mention the actual executive order from Obama in this analysis, thus it cannot be taken seriously! How can you effectively fact check something without even looking at the primary documents involved? This is just outright ludicrous! Are people really that STUPID???
http://www.politifact.com/new-jersey/statements/2012/aug/19/national-republican-congressional-committee/house-democrats-support-gutting-medicare-more-700-/
Politifact itself concludes that "the health care reform is projected to reduce future Medicare spending by more than $700 billion between 2013 and 2022," and yet still rates this a Pants on Fire???? You've got to be kidding me!

Paulson was primarily advised by then NY Fed Chairman Timothy Geithner, who Obama made the new and current Secretary of the Treasury, and US Fed Chair Ben Bernanke, who Obama kept as the US Fed Chair. If you want to look down upon anyone, perhaps it should be your fellow blue fisters whose detestable acts caused the use of the screen name out of necessity.

And that trip couldn't have been scheduled to either before or after the convention? Yeah, I'll believe that when my crap turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert!

@Hoffa Now there's that change of subject I know so well of Republicans!!! We have Bill Clinton, the most recent President before Prez Obama. So again, where was GW, the most recent Republican President?
@Steve Give me a break! Chosen!!! lol. It's more like the RNC and Rove want him to stay under a rock back in Crawford! You could have at least had Cheney speak now that he's had his ninth heart bypass with Taxpayer's money!

@Brittany -
Sorry, Hoffa didn't realize that only you were allowed to posit questions.
If you listened to the speeches at the RNC convention at all, and especially Ryan's, the GOP admitted that the Bush years weren't exactly a shining moment in conservative ideology. So why bring out someone that you admit didn't exactly do right by the party? While GW wasn't the worst, he admittedly wasn't great either.
What's more disturbing is your side's love of Clinton - as in all reality he screwed us more than Bush did. Clinton was responsible for NAFTA, lifting investment bank regulations, and giving favored trading nation status to China. Not to mention how immoral the man was while in office. One of the two Presidents in our nation's history that was actually impeached while in office. And yet, you guys still celebrate him!
Proving once again how SICK Democrats really are!

I used to consider politifact fairly unbiased, but their ratings lately have gone way too the left. They do cite some facts, but still manage to come to the wrong conclusion.
Take the BS about Ryan saying Obama closed the GM plant in Janesville:
Paul Ryan DID NOT say Barack Hussein Obama closed the Janesville plant!
Paul Ryan DID NOT say the plant closed under Barack Hussein Obama's watch!
Paul Ryan DID NOT say the plant closing was because of Barack Hussein Obama!
Here is the text of that portion of Paul Ryan's speech:
"...Obama said: “I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.” That’s what he said in 2008.
Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight... "
His point was the Barack Hussein Obama IS NOT the man to get that plant reopened, or at the very least, create jobs so people can get back to work.

If Michelle Obama was honest and had any integrity at all, she'd apologize for the $3M Alice in Wonderland WH party hosted by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp that her and her husband threw at our collective expense. Or the expensive vacations that her and the girls took at our expense, calling it a 'diplomatic function.' She could have at least offered to pay back the taxpayers for such foolishness.
But she didn't, did she?
Nor did she explain any of Obama's broken promises - like failing to close Gitmo, half the defiict, etc.

If the Obama's had suggested private security the Service would have nixed the idea out of hand.

Obama claims to be sympathetic to the plight of struggling Americans, right? But he has no trouble with his daughter taking a trip that he knows will cost the American taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the mandatory protection by the Secret Service.
Thus, if Obama truly cared about the stewardship of the American people's tax-dollars, he would have asked his daughter to forgo taking a luxury trip until the economy had improved for all Americans and we were in a better position to foot the bill for such a trip. That's what's called leading by example.
This just show how out-of-touch Obama is to the struggles of the average American family. Just like the $3M Alice in Wonderland party hosted by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp at the WH that Obama threw.
Apparently when Mitt Romney is spending his own money on luxuries, it means he's out-of-touch with the average American.
But when Obama spends taxpayers money on luxuries for himself and his family, he's not out-of-touch????

Your comparison of 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' to the RNC Convention only pits TLC against one network, and a cable network at that, Fox News Channel (FNC).

Are you really citing an article that contains no direct quotes as support for your statement? I hope that you have sounder facts than this to support your statement, the point of which still eludes Hoffa.
Allen West is heading Mitt Romney's African American Outreach program. Allen West is an African American, is he not?
Either Hoffa is missing something, or ...

You are a joke. Call me a racist and not own up to your own actions. Like I said, i have a wonderful Hispanic wife and we have many African American friends. You are someone who is afraid to look at his or her (who knows coward?) actions and take responsibility for them. Thank you for showing what you are really about.

@The Hoffa.
You are correct that First Lady Michelle Obama attended the London Olympics. She was the leader of the US Presidential Delegation to the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games; thus being there in an "official capacity".
The Romoney's were there in no "official capacity" so, by your thinking they should have re-imbursed the Feds for their Secret Service protection.
However, I believe that as the presumptive TEAPublican nominee for President he and his wife should have the protection of the Secret Service.

That's quite a fancy way to say 'taxpayer funded vacation.'
"The Romoney's were there in no "official capacity" so, by your thinking they should have re-imbursed the Feds for their Secret Service protection."
Yes and no. Yes, they should offer reimbursement, but at the rate that they could have obtained private security for the trip, instead of at the overinflated rate of the government provided services, as such service is forced upon the candidate - Romney has little say over the issue.

@John Feia. Of course, as any good "partisan shill" SUCH AS YOURSELF, A LEFTIST, if someones opinions don't match YOUR BELIEFS they're wrong.
The biggest problem in politics today is NEITHER side listens to its constituents. They are, when preaching for the common good of ALL, have their own agendas that by no means are unbiased. If we got back to being a country governed by our own constitution, removed the super pacs from the process and FIRED those elected officials when they under perform, we would ALL be in a better place.
Facts are facts...Obama has UNDER PERFORMED. He has not done what he promised (unemployment under 8%--which he himself said if he didn't get it below that should NOT be re-elected). His bail outs did nothing CLOSE to what he said he would do and the auto bail out was ONLY to protect the union lackeys whose votes he so covets.
Obama is in over his head. He has no background in dealing with the type of finances this country has and he doesn't have the people around him fighting for the common good...all reasons to help him pack.
Bottom line...as long as unions throw the switches for the dems and big corporations pull the levers for the republicans our country is going to spiral under even faster. What we are seeing today is just the beginning.

The 1993 amendment to the Hatch Act, 107 Stat. 1001, removed the prohibition on participation in "political management or political campaigns."
So as long as Hillary wasn't on 'active duty' and as long as she wouldn't be a on federal property when engaging in political activity, she'd be free to do so without violating federal law.
Want to try again?

"Why wasn't Hillary invited to speak at the convention?"
Because she in China doing her job.
You need to get your facts straight though.
"In 1974 Hatch Act restrictions on state and local government were watered down, and in 1993 the advocates for removing or reducing restrictions on the political activities of federal employees carried the day. The Hatch Act Reform Amendments of 1993 (107 Stat. 1001) removed the prohibition on participation in "political management or political campaigns." Federal employees are still forbidden, however, to use their authority to affect the results of an election. They are also forbidden to run for office in a partisan election, to solicit or receive political contributions, and to engage in political activities WHILE ON DUTY OR ON FEDERAL PROPERTY. The Merit Systems Protection Board and its Office of Special Counsel are responsible for enforcement of the Hatch Act"

Hoffa said all that, in case you didn't realize it. Is your reading comprehension really that bad?
So essentially you're saying that she couldn't have scheduled a vacation during the week of the convention. Or are you arguing that the stadium is federal property, because I don't believe it is? Could it be that you're trying to make two faulty arguments at the same time?
Seems awfully convenient to Hoffa!

UPDATE New Reuters-Ipsos poll tonight joined Gallup in finding an Obama bump from the DNC. It had not seen much before, but today revealed a 2 percent spike for Obama, and a 1 percent decline for Romney, along with some favorable metrics for the president, up about 4 percent. Obama now leads there 46 percent–44 percent. They suggest there could be more gains tomorrow.,,
