Six Greendale School Board Applications Submitted for Vacant Seat

The final selection will made on June 4.

The Greendale School Board has received six appplications for the vacated seat left by former member Jim Schutte in April.

Yesterday was the deadline to submit applications. The Board will choose between the following candidates:

  • Michael Connor
  • Melanie Kuzmanovic
  • Amy Ali
  • Roger Dalkin
  • Russell DeLong
  • Michael Spitzer

School Board President Joe Crapitto said all the candidates have or have had children in the Greendale Schools and have been involved with the district in varying degrees.

Ali ran against Schutte in April 2011 but lost. The board will make the final selection at its June 4 meeting.

How many of these candidates support Governor Walker? In Greendale, that should be a given. I hope the board members remember who elects them.

What do you mean support for Walker should be a given in Greendale? Are we not allowed to think for ourselves in Greendale? I was under the impression that how one voted was a private matter between you and your conscience.
The school board needs to select candidates who will do the best they can for the Greendale School District.

At least one is a teacher union member! The question is do the board members care? Greendale residents should be at the meeting Monday to watch their elected leaders decide.

I just did a quick check on iverifytherecall.com (only had time to look through the letter "C") and found at least 2 out of the 6 names on the Walker recall petition! I hope the School Board does it's homework!

The board should select a candidate who realizes that a well-funded public education is the best investment that a community can make - regardless of whether or not they stand with or against Walker . . . looking up a candidates name to see of they signed a recall does not tell you WHY they signed the recall - and frankly it is their business. Are we now in a "Show me your papers" state?

Let's hope the school board selects a candidate that represents how Greendale votes: Greendale is over 55% Walker even if Jason and Catherine wish different. Jason and Catherine live in a Walker Village.

I will be at the meeting to see how our school board votes and what side they choose.

Greendale also has the highest percentage of current and retired WEAC members per capita in the State of WI - probably because professional educators know that Greendale is a community that values its public education system and puts the priority of educating children over partisan politics...and this the school board already knows.
