Despite plunging temperatures, hundreds gathered at Greendale Village hall to witness the 2012 holiday lighting ceremony.
Village president John Hermes flicked the switch to brighten Greendale's shopping district as well as introduce Santa to many excited children.
The Greendale High School choir sang several holiday favorites including "Jingle Bells" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".
