Man Who Drove Into a Greendale Home Charged With 2nd OWI
Suspect, 29, had THC in his blood after April accident.
A 29-year-old Greendale man is facing charges for crashing his Lexus SUV into a Greendale home last April.
Jeffrey Mellock was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of second offense operating while intoxicated and one count of operating a vehicle with a restricted controlled substance in his blood. If convicted, he could face up to one year in prison and $2,200 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
At 10:33 p.m. on April 20, 2011, Mellock drove his SUV into a home in the 6500 block of Parkview Road. Mellock then went to his home and parked the car in the garage. When police arrived, he was sweating heavily and had labored breathing, and they observed that the car had sustained heavy frontal damage.
Mellock then failed field sobriety tests and was suspected of being intoxicated. A blood test later revealed THC in his blood stream, which is the active ingredient in marijuana.
Mellock was previously convicted of OWI in 2005. He’s scheduled to make his initial appearance in court Feb. 20.
