Man Faces Drinking Charges After Driving With His High Beams on

Greendale man didn't turn his headlights down while passing a cop and now faces charges.

A 58-year-old Greendale man is facing charges after he went past a police officer with his high beams on after allegedly drinking.

The man was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of third offense operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. If convicted, he faces up to one year in county jail and $2,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Dec. 17, a Greendale police officer on patrol drove past the suspect near West Grange Avenue and Stratford Drive and he didn’t turn off his high beams as he drove past. The officer then did a U-turn and tried to pull the man over, but he didn’t immediately obey.

He eventually pulled over in the 4400 block of West Grange Avenue where he told the officer he had one beer before driving. He passed field sobriety tests, but had a blood alcohol level of 0.09 at the time of the incident.

The man was previously convicted of drunk driving in 2000 and 2010. He will make his initial appearance in court March 20.
