Layton State Bank Named Chamber's 2011 Business Member of the Year

Board passes Feb. 10 as 'Layton State Bank Day' in the village.

 

Layton State Bank will be named the Greendale Chamber of Commerce's 2011 Business Member of the Year on Feb. 10 at the chamber's annual awards banquet. 

The bank was formed at 2740 W. Forest Home Ave. in 1920 by businessmen who went door-to-door raising money to open the business conveniently located located at the last stop on the trolley system. The original bank remains open today. 

A branch was opened in Greendale in 1947 and relocated to 5850 Broad St. in 1971. It is the only independent bank in the village. 

The Village Board passed a proclamation on Tuesday night honoring Layton State Bank .

Carla Breunig is president and chief executive officer of the bank. Gary Szpara is senior vice president of business development and Eric Hall is senior vice president of finance and credit. 

The bank's board of directors includes: Bernhard Schreib, Gary Glojek, Michael Smith, John Klemmer, David Schmidt, Breunig, and Jeffrey Vredenbregt, chairman of the board.
