Greendale School District students will hold their third annual Benefit Concert on Feb. 10. Proceeds of the student-driven event benefit Sophia’s Heart – a charity that aims to improve the lives of children.
When a devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, killing thousands, people from all over reached out to those in need, including Greendale students. The benefit concert tradition stemmed from a group of Greendale Middle School students who felt compelled to help the cause. Each year, students from almost every grade level meet, hold auditions, organize a concert at the high school and donate the profits to a charity. In the last two years, they’ve raised over $2,200.
The completely student-run Benefit Concert will be held on Friday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Greendale High School Auditorium, 6801 Southway. There will be performances by musicians from the Greendale Schools, as well as the local community. Admission to the concert is $2.00 at the door, but additional donations are appreciated.
