Gov. Walker: Saving for a Rainy Day
Scott Walker: I’m happy to tell you that for fiscal year 2012 which just ended, our balance sheet shows a surplus of money.
This week, Governor Scott Walker delivered the following weekly radio address titled Saving For a Rainy Day.
Hi, I’m Scott Walker.
Everyone who does a budget at home knows that it takes hard work and frugality to make ends meet. Having a little extra cash left over to save, is an even bigger challenge.
Well, the same goes for the state budget. I’m happy to tell you that for fiscal year 2012 which just ended, our balance sheet shows a surplus of money.
Because of this, we are able to add nearly $109 million to the state’s rainy day fund. This is a pretty big deal – in fact – it’s the largest contribution to the rainy day fund in state history.
We put money into the fund last year, too, and this is the first time in state history money has been added to the rainy day fund in back-to-back years.
We’ve all seen in recent years how quickly the economy can crumble, dealing a blow to families and businesses. It’s important to budget wisely – spend LESS and save MORE – so when you really need that extra cushion – it’s there.
Moving forward, as we work on the next state budget, we will continue to focus on what is best for future generations. Our priorities are creating jobs and developing our workforce, investing in infrastructure and reforming education.
The decisions we make will ALWAYS be made with you, the people of Wisconsin in mind. We are committed to running an effective and EFFICIENT government, so that we can provide necessary services, without breaking YOUR budget.
The state partnered with the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association to produce and distribute brief radio address once a week. Audio files and a written transcript of this radio address can be accessed on http://www.wi-broadcasters.org and http://walker.wi.gov/Weekly-Radio-Addresses. The 'surplus' came from $558 million in BORROWED money. Got that?
$108 million going to the rainy day fund was and is BORROWED money while tax revenues are only up marginally unable to keep-up with Walker's give-aways to his rich pals.
The cost of the BORROWED money will be $156 million over the term of debt that is part of the 'surplus'.
Scott Walker, blew $140 million left over from the previous administration in two months and then increased spending by $1.2 billiion, while taxing the poor and giving to his wealthy cronnies including a railroad run by a guy who was found guilty on four felony counts of money laundering giving cash to Walker's campaign.
Now his prized economic develepment agency, 'lost' $69 million in cash he gave away in loans. This all at a time the Governor said he had created almost 39 thousand jobs since his election. Latest figures show Wisconsin has LOST 22 thousand jobs in the same period. 'High-tax' Illinois, from whence Walker said he would poach jobs is creating 30 thousand a month! And Wisconsin's income gap with Minnesota remains at $6 thousand per person. iN FACT...Wisconsin has the worst jobs creation record in the mid-west.
Walker is a serial liar, and unfortunately, there are lotsa people who are happy to believe in his lies.
Scott Walker is the son of a pastor and an Eagle Scout and everything.

The only rainy day we'll see in the immediate future is November 7th, when we have a 100% chance of liberals' tears followed by flash floods of them pissing and moaning about Obama's defeat the previous night.

Yes Nuitari, and they won't be able to cry voter fraud because they say there is none. That and the margin of victory will be huge:(

Read about the latest WEDC fiasco, there is no rainy day fund, education was cut too severely, not to mention services cut in many towns, layoffs, we didn't have a budget crisis until now! Romnesia and crooked Walker! You have all been fooled by the best!

Hey, here's an idea. Since we have this extra money, why don't we fund Medicaid, so sick little kids and old people can see a doctor? Sounds like a win win situation to me.
