College Park Teacher Named Chamber's Educator of the Year
Colleen Korpal, who will be honored at the Greendale Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet next month, began teaching in Greendale in 2006.
When it came time for the Greendale Chamber of Commerce to select its Charlie Herman Educator of the Year winner, a College Park Elementary School teacher stood out among all the rest.
The chamber has named Colleen Korpal the winner of this year's award and will honor her at the organization's annual dinner celebration next month.
The Greendale School District hired Korpal in 2006 to teach first grade at College Park. Four years later, Korpal became part of a team of teachers that began looping with first and second grade students, building relationships with her students and families as she moved up to the next grade with them.
She has also assumed leadership roles, as an elementary curriculum facilitator and Alverno Steering Committee member.
Korpal graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in early childhood education and began her teaching career in Cudahy in 1996. She taught kindergarten and first grade there for four years before staying home to raise two sons.
