Chick-fil-A Gets Ok From Planning Commission

The restaurant will have a drive-through, outdoor dining and indoor playground.

Chick-Fil-A was welcomed by the Greendale Planning Commission on Wednesday, when the commission unanimously approved the construction of a 4,779-square-foot restuarant.

The restaurant, located on 76th Street in front of the under-construction Walmart, will seat 109 people. It will also have a drive-through, outdoor dining, and an indoor playground. Typical hours of operations will be from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

News of the first Milwaukee area Chick-fil-A broke Sept. 14. Wisconsin's only other Chick-fil-A is in Racine.

Following last year's announcement of a $52 million Southridge Mall renovation, a number of new restaurants and businesses have announced plans to open in the 76th Street corridor.

Panda Express and a proposed Longhorn Steakhouse will be built alongside each other at the old Leath Furniture location. Designer Shoe Warehouse will open at the former Borders building in March of 2013.

The company received national attention recently after the restaurant chain president expressed his opposition to gay marriage.

"The company received national attention recently after the restaurant chain president expressed his opposition to gay marriage."

I take issue with this statement. The national attention was from the reaction of the mayors of Chicago and Boston to the guy's expressed opposition to gay marriage. It was the mayors seeking to prevent Chik-Fil-A from opening restaurants (and the alleged first amendment violations resulting from that) that made the national headlines...

As far as I know, they haven't left SE Wisconsin--the one in Racine has been operating for many years...

Ah yeah, forgot about that one down there. Well, they at least left the Milwaukee Market ages ago.

Oh yay :/ One more low~brow FF chain (food is HORRIBLE). It will fit in with the Wal~Martization of what was once an area with loads of potential. I think my property value just took a nose dive as I type this. Way to go Greendale....aim high.

I go to lots of nice restaurants, and I also love Chick Fil A! This is a win for Greendale, just watch. It will attract people from a wide radius to the mall area. I think people forget how much the Southridge area had deteriorated and the amount of vacant space left behind. Village leaders are doing a good job.

As a lover of all types of food I would be interested to see how good Chick Fil A is. Outdoor dining and an indoor playground should definatly attract some families.

3/4 of my family is vegetarian so we have no interest in this type of restaurant. However, my husband loves Chick-fil-a. Recently he chose equality over fast food chicken and will no longer support a place that endorses inequality.

Chick Fil A used to be a tenant in Southridge mall years ago, so yes, they were here in SE Wisconsin and left. When traveling I purposely look for a CFA. The food is good, and lets not forget...it's a fast food restaurant, not fine dining. Bringing restaurants to the area that people want to frequent is good business. I'd much rather stay in my area than travel to Brookfield or Wauwatosa.

What was the reason they left the mall?

Chick-fil-a restaurants are closed on Sundays to give their employees a day to be with their families. As I understand it, the mall management gave them a hard time about that. It goes back to their founding on Biblical principles to have a day of rest. Most stores used to be closed on Sundays too.

I for one enjoy a restaurant with good food, excellent service, and amazing moral beliefs! It will be an upgrade to the other hohum service in the area.
