Board Approves Makeup of Village Center Committee
The committee will be comprised of Village Center stakeholders, as well as 10 citizen members and an at large member.
It took three meetings to hammer out the makeup of an ad hoc committee to help plan future development of the Village Center, but the Greendale Village Board has made its decision
The committee will include the following members, as recommended by the Committee of the Whole, as well as an additional at-large member to be determined by the ad hoc committee:
Six Village Center Stakeholders
- Plan Commission representative: Henry Kosarzycki
- Grandhaven LLC: One representative, to be determined
- Popp Dental: One representative, to be determined
- Greendale School District: One representative, to be determined
- Village Center business owners: One representative, to be determined
- Greendale Historical Society: One representative, to be determined

One at-large member, to be selected by the committee
The at-large member was a comprise to allow for the possibility of Greendale residents who are also part of the represented groups, like the Historical Society, to still serve on the committee.
The ad hoc committee will consider and make recommendations to the Community Development Authority and the Planning Commission regarding the future mission of the Village Center. The committee will make a broad examination of the past, present and need for the future, long-term economic sustainability of the Village Center.

I would be interested to know how the Greendale residents were selected. So we have 3 corporate seats, 3 agency seats, and 11 resident seats. Giving a committee seat to Popp Dental is interesting since I'm not sure how much walk-in traffic a crown and bridge lab gets (usually handled through dental clinics or mail?). I think bringing Bartalotta's would be a smart choice since they are actually experienced and successful in marketing and promotion. Their 40's supper club concept complements the village and their idea team would be more helpful in advancing the discourse than a company that doesn't rely on location for success.

Bren has it right. I wonder if the Greendale School Board of Trustees will serve or will they duck their responsibility like they usually do to protect their behinds and have administrators serve. I hope they don't expect the new administrator take this on even though they will so they can avoid direct responsilbility - their strong suit so they can stay on their decorative board. Why not ask Trustee McCormick or Slota to step up - they are experienced leaders - right? We will believe that when we see it!

I would not want one of the school board members on the Village Committee. They don't have the strength to stand on their own two feet. I hope they will put a professional on the committee to represent the kids and who will be able to take a stand.
