Uncle Joe said they weren't asked for more security at the embassy? The congressional hearing yesterday already proved that it was requested but denied. So let me get this straight, he says he has bad intellegence on the embassy issue but is 100% confidendent the same intellegence will tell him when Iraq has a nuke? Another epic cover-up by the administration that will just fade away.

Mike in OC I watched and enjoyed the entire debate. I didn't see morons or used car salesmen--perhaps you were watching something else on cable? ; )

I was very concerned about the format of the first debate, which placed the moderator far from the action, so to "speak." It was easy for both candidates (mostly Mitt) to steamroll the moderator. Last night's moderator didn't give an inch, I felt.

Here's the question. When outright fabrications are being laid down in front of millions of people, what should one do? Obama "lost" the first debate because he was presidential and a gentleman.

Personally I think lying is more offensive than interrupting. I would prefer a lie to be interrupted, no matter what side is presenting the falsehood. We the People deserve not to have our time wasted on b.s. And a lot of what Ryan was laying down was b.s., particularly in the areas of the economy and foreign policy. I felt Ryan's bringing up the traffic accident story was a cheap, crass attempt to unsettle an opponent who has experienced tremendous personal loss in this manner.

@Bren -

Are you sure you were watching the same debate?

What did Ryan lie about exactly?

Biden was the one who was clearly lying his rear end off! He voted in favor of both wars, and not against them as he claimed last night! And he's continuing to lie about Libya! Biden also lied about how Ryan was being given more time by the moderator than him, when in reality, Biden was given over 2 minutes of additional time over Ryan, not including his laughs, interruptions, talk overs, cackles, etc. Biden also continued to double down on Obama's lies about Romney's tax plan.

The moderator was slightly biased in favor of Biden - even the Washington Post admits to this!

But continue to live in fantasy land - you always do!

@Bren -

It's funny how Biden admitted that the Obama/Biden administration has an intelligence community that made up a story about protests occurring over the YouTube video at the Libyan consulate (which never really happened) before the terrorist attack that killed four Americans, but then trusts that very same intelligence community when it comes to how close Iran is to getting a nuke! Probably the same intelligence community that said that Saddam had WMDs, right? When Bush relied on that intelligence to go into Iraq, it was a conspiracy and all his doing and fault, and yet, when Obama/Biden rely on faulty intelligence, it's someone else's fault?!?!

That's just INCREDIBLE!!!

And if they know that they have an intelligence community that makes up stories of events that never really happened, then shouldn't they be questioning the accuracy of all their intelligence? There's obviously a very big problem here, but instead of pro-actively trying to fix it, they're hiding behind an investigation?!?!

COME ON!!! This is CYA politics at its worst and the fact that neither Clinton, Obama, or Biden will accept personal responsibility as the top people in their respective chains of command just laments the failure of leadership that we've seen from this administration.

It's time to stop pointing the finger and passing the buck - it's time to accept personal responsibility and elect real leadership!

Um, and our Comrade Obama apparently has even less intelligence data - just lies, obfuscation, and a very polite media.

Obama has gobs of blood dripping from his hands.

Regardless of your shallow liberal bent, if you think it is okay for our leader to lie, misrepresent and keep the truth about Libya from it's citizens, then you really need to reevaluate your ethics, morals and values. Slither out of the slime you reside and figure this out. People lost their lives, the bodies came back from Libya and Obama flew off to Vegas.

I agree! Young voters got a close up view of what an arrogant, bully looks like on national TV. Martha looked way out of her league at moderating this event, or else it was on purpose to give a career politician extra time to make his points because of his long term experience. No wonder the Obama team calls it their win. Ryan showed manners and patience, but he should have demanded equal time to respond to questions or to Biden's remarks which would have proven Vice-Pres. Biden to be even more obnoxius looking, if, or when he continued his effective rough-shod techniques after being called on it.

Only if you think winning over the undecideds can be done by engaging in inappropriate laughter in the middle of a discussion of a nuclear armed Iran. Or going after the moderator as Joe did.

This is exactly what Ryan was talking about - the Dems refuse to work together on bi-partisan solutions, instead forcing a my-way-or-the-highway approach to governing.

You, of all people, should know that these debates are geared towards the mushy middle. If you think having Joe Biden in split screen laughing during a discussion of nukes in Iran or barking at the moderator as he did at one point made Ryan "look like a little wuss" and, therefore, scored points with folks in the middle, you obviously don't know too many folks in the middle.

Personally I don't care what Joe did or did not do last night. I am more interested in your actual statement. The right lost an election for the Governeor's race when Doyle was elected. Was their an outcry to have him recalled, for no reason other than we, as conservatives, did not like it? No, there wasn't. Flash forward to 2010 and tell me what happened. You can try to make an argument that Walker did something wrong but it doesn't hold water. Walker layed out his plan, in detail, about how he was going to get this state back in positive numbers and he did it. When the left did not like the legislation that was coming across their desks in Madison what did they do? They left their jobs and ran to Illinois. The liberals act like little kids every time they don't get their way. So now is your chance to get angry, call me a Neo-Nazi or member of the KKK because you have nothing to defend this other than yelling and name calling.

Biden's objective was to bring back some semblance of an administration that sounds like they know what they're doing. He did that in spots and had he stuck to that rather than overdoing the laughing, head shaking and eye-rolling, that might be the overall theme of his performance.

Ryan's objective was to seem knowledgable, demonstrate his much touted expertise on issues in a fashion that wasn't overly wonkish and to not scare the bejesus out of people. He did okay on the first count, no so good on the second and, thanks to Biden's over-the-top performance, the third wasn't even really a concern. If anything, a bit of timidity, albeit unintentional, probably worked in his favor given the way the left has been painting him and insinuating that he would be the hard-right driving force behind a Romney administration.

It was a draw. Neither participant lived up to the promises of their respective parties or the negative spin of their opposition. It was a VP debate and, frankly, had Obama not hosed his first Presidential one so badly it wouldn't have taken on the "importance" it did and you guys wouldn't be spinning it as some great victory for Biden.

I have to smile at the irony -- President Obama 'lost' his debate by not being assertive enough, waiting politely for his turn, looking down when Romney was talking, etc. The Obama/Biden team learns the lesson and now Biden is castigated for being rude.

I would have called the debate a tie, with Biden having the slight advantage. I swear, Ryan was floundering a few times.

I think it was a bit of overcompensation on Biden's part. He seemed to have crossed the line from 'aggressive/assertive' to 'angry/mean' on several occasions...

I'm not sure why all the of the winning/loosing talk. This debate, as are any and all VP debates, was a simple qualifier. Are the candidates 'capable of stepping in'; if G-d forbid, the President is not capable of filling out the term?

Losing, not loosing.

Jay, while correct, I think this was the last time a VP debate legitimately served that purpose...

So...Biden says that the White House was never informed of the additional security requests. Not only that but he bases their reasoning for trying to pass off the attack, as a response to some video, on the fact that it was the information they were given at the time from their intelligence community. Then says that they changed their position , over time, based on updated reports from that same intelligence community. But, the State Department contends that their were repeated requests for security and that they never gave information on the attack stemming from a protest about a video and have always contended that it was a planned attack. My question is why is the White House lying about this? And...if the intelligence community they refer to on the Lybia attack is the same one that is telling them Iran is no where near having nuclear war capabilities, why should we trust them on this? Is it so hard for this administration to admit they made a mistake about the level of terrorism in the world and just come clean that it is still alive and growing legs again.

The Obama adminstration and the media wants to win this election so badly one of their tactics is to convince the world that terrorism is dead because of them. Uncle Joe was caught in another big lie last night because the congressional hearing revealed they were never told there would be a protest about a movie. They were told their would be an act of terrorism and they should beef up security. The media will not question why they put the spin on the story that they did. Too bad the ambassador and other americans were killed and have largely been forgotten by the press.

If you are white and vote for Obama you're voting against your self interest. Vote white this time around, to much is at stake. That skinny black Marxist hates white people. I'm voting for the white guy, you should to.

You trust the so-called 'fact-checkers' to give it to you straight?

Keep on drinking the kool-aide instead of thinking for yourself!

Proof once again that the Dems are targeting the low-information, non-thinking voter!

The fact that the fact-checkers don't seem to agree should be an indication that perhaps they aren't getting it right...

@Hoffa and @CowDung -
Perhaps the two of you should outline exactly where the "so-called 'fact-checkers'" went astray. JQP would be interested to get your take on it and I hazard to guess that other readers would appreciate being enlightened as well. I look forward to your analysis.

ABC, CNN, and CNBC polls all show Ryan winning. CBS is the only outlier showing Biden as the winner.

Just like a blue-fister to erroneously believe that they are in the majority, when in fact, they are clearly in the minority, as will be definitely proven on November 6th!
