Al Singer, Candidate for Milwaukee County Board - 17th District

Singer, a retired police sergeant who is now a security officer, is one of three candidates running in special primary election on Feb. 19.

Age: 58

Occupation: Retired police sergeant; now working as a security officer at two hospitals. I also drive for a company that transports hospital teams that do transplants. I also sell 50/50 raffle tickets for the Milwaukee Brewer Community Foundation and I work as a golf ranger at a local course.

Family: Married; three adult sons

How long have you lived in district? 10 years

Have you held political office? Ran for Milwaukee County Supervisor in 1980 and lost.

Related experience: None...... too busy working.I worked with kids my entire adult life. I was a high school football coach for 15 years and coached grade school basketball and little league baseball. I also was a business owner for 13 years. I operated an indoor sports and family fun center in Milwaukee called Grand Slam USA. I sold that business in 2006, so I know what its like to run a business, pay rent and payroll and budget. I also was in the US Coast Guard Reserve for 7 years. I also have a BS degree in business from Marquette University.
